Review of Last Season
Although none of our teams won titles in the 2010-11 season, nevertheless we can look upon the overall performance with considerable satisfaction. With several new members joining our club, for the first time in a number of years we were able to field four teams in the league – thus making us the county’s largest and most active chess club. Indeed our D team alone were able to call upon nine players, thus achieving our prime objective – to encourage as many players as possible to enjoy competitive chess. In addition our members played an active role in organising and expanding the game across the county including as League Controller (VC), county website (KT & VC), and tournament organiser (KT).

2011-12 Teams
We will again field four teams in the Shropshire chess league – A team in Div 1, B and C in Div 2, and D team in Div 3. Officers / Captains
Secretary – Keith Tabner
Treasurer – John Westhead
A Team Captain – Richard Bryant, (Vice Capt Peter Crean)
B Team Captain – Matthew Clark, (Vice Capt Keith Tabner)
C Team Captain –John Casewell (Vice Capt Charles Micalef)
D Team Captain – Dean Pinnington (Vice Captain Shane Sweeney)

Treasurer’s Report
JW presented accounts for the last two years. Fees will remain as last year £12 per head to cover league fees etc. The lack of trophy success in the season means that expenditure is lower than normal. JW will also be collecting outstanding tournament fees.
Of course all of us must also be fully paid up members of Telepost Club (£15-00 pa)

Club Championship
It was agreed that this event should continue in it’s present format – a five round Swiss held during the winter season to be organised by KT. Fees to continue at £2-00 per entry. Our 2010-11 champion is Matthew Clark with an impressive 4/5.
Agreed that the Steve Jones Trophy be engraved with the winners’ names – JB to organise.
